One clear evening, right up to the top of the hill past Haebangchon and on the outskirts of Huamdong, I found myself in front of a large white building, with angles jutting from side to side. This building was Comfort.
Comfort is a cafe, goods store, and art space. There were three floors in the building. The first was the goods store selling various accessories and the second floor was an art space displaying various art exhibits. The third floor was the café.

The café had a simple colour scheme of white, black and grey. The floors were white and black with a grain like look to it. The walls, ceiling and piping were painted in white. Aluminium was also used a lot in the space.
On some of the ceilings, behind the ordering counter and even as wall dividers metal frames that had small bars in patterns were used to provide an interesting look to the space. Table tops, refrigerators and cabinetry were also all made of shiny aluminium.

Concrete was also in the space, with a large concrete table in the middle of the main ordering area used to display various art books.

Another key feature of the space were wide windows and glass. Floor to ceiling window panes surrounded the perimeter of the cafe, which opened up the space and allowed patrons to look out onto the cityscape.
Alongside the large windows, there were also glass dividers. These walls, sectioned off parts of the space which made each seating place feel more private and intimate.

Decoration was relatively simple and refined. There were a few sculptures and ornaments here and there, however most of the interior decoration was functional. Inside the café you could also buy goods like art books and homewear. So a lot of decoration was displays of goods, displays of cakes and wine. With this, there was a sophisticated but artistic feel throughout the space.

For seating, there were two longer tables; one with seats either side, and one just facing the window. There were also tables for twos. There was also a roof top with two levels that allowed you look out onto the spectacular Seoul skyline. Here there was also seating along a long-waved bench.
One of the best highlights of the café was the view. Since I went at night, on a clear evening, even from inside the cafe, the cafe was a great vantage spot to see the night lights.

Though table height was appropriate for working, the café can be busy on weekends so it seemed more suited for socialising. Especially with the view it seemed better to look out onto the view than to be stuck doing work.

For the drinks I ordered a pink milk tea, iced americano and an almond croissant. The pink milk tea, rather than an actual milk tea was more like a warm strawberry milk. While tasty, there was no tea flavour and instead it just had a very sweet berry like flavour. It also came in a small glass that wasn’t even filled to the top so it seemed very overpriced. As for the americano, my friend said it was fine, but definitely nothing special.
However, the almond croissant was lovely. It was perfectly baked with flaky and crispy layers with a buttery and soft centre. The almond topping was also lovely with a perfect balance of sweetness alongside a crunchy texture from the almond shavings.
If you’re looking for beauty, Comfort is a perfect spot to enjoy it inside and outside. In dead beat terms, this is a great speech that allows you to both enjoy a beautiful interior as well as get a breathtaking view of the city. While the drinks are nothing to shout about, the interior of the café is chic and artistic and a nice place to relax while watching a busy city below you. Not only that, you can get a little bit of shopping done too.
