Almost Home CAFE: Gyeongridan

If you get off at Noksapyeong station and follow the street away from Itaewon, will find yourself on Gyeongridan-gil. The street and it’s surrounds is known for its restaurants and cafes and is a quieter alternative to it's nearby cousin, Itaewon.

Just by the main intersection of the street is where you will see the plant flourishing exterior of the Almost Home Café. One of the many branches of this café, it’s a biproduct of the Korean select store Epigram, with this location having the select store right next door.

As you walk in the front door of the café, you are greeted with a small area. On the right is the ordering counter and just in front of you are the stairs to the main seating area.

While downstairs has the main seating, the best seats of the café are outside. There is a deck that connects the café and Epigram store. This deck is decorated with green potted plants and scattered in between those are small green benches. There are also two bar stools placed infront of a small bar just outside a large open window of the main counter. This is a hot spot for insta pics.

The cafe had a very neutral colour palette. The main façade of the café is tiled with beautiful muted emerald tiles, alongside light coloured wood and white walls to match in well with the outside foliage. Again due to the current corona situation I got take out. But it was still nice to sit in the garden while waiting for my drink to be prepared.

I got a green tea latte and a madeleine bread. The green tea was flavoursome and sweet, which was good for warming the soul on an early fall evening. The madeleine bread was also tasty, with the outside slightly crispy and the inside soft and buttery.

Although this is a side thought of a select shop, Almost Home Café is a lovely café. In dead beat terms, this is a lovely curated café that has good quality beverages. Also even if it’s just for a moment, it’s nice to enjoy the garden and watch passers buy.
