Down the quiet streets of Hapjeong, on your way to the Han River and past the power plant, you will be greeted with the large industrial exterior of Bean Brothers.
One one three locations, the café is a large warehouse style café with an overly black interior with other industrial textures such as corrugated iron, concrete and wood used. Since the corona situation was bad at the time of visiting, my friends and I opted to get takeaway. Although we didn’t stay long, it was long enough to see that this cafe was more suited to working. The tables were all a comfortable height for using laptops, and the chairs didn't seem too comfortable.
While the space has a well-balanced industrial design carried throughout the café, it’s overall atmosphere feels like it’s saying “don’t get comfortable, do something productive.”
While the café has a warehouse style interior, rather than being open plan, it has a lot of different areas and sections, with a mezzanine level, and a small cordoned off space. Right next to this space is the café’s roastery.
Naturally with a name like Bean Brothers, this is a café that specialises in coffee. You are able to choose your type of bean and can even get free hand drink refills if you’re staying in the café.
I came along with two friends, one of which is an old time regular. I had a green tea latte, and my friends both had iced ammericanos. We also shared two cookies, one a matcha and white choc-chip, and the other just a choc chip.
The green tea latte was milky and sweet, but with also a nice strong flavouring of green tea. Both my friends said that the coffee was next level delicious, with great bold flavours.
As for the cookies; the matcha cookie was tasty with a robust matcha flavour and was thick but soft. The choc-chip cookie didn’t hit the mark quite as well. It lacked flavour and sweetness, and it’s texture was more floury.
Coffee fans, if you need a coffee, head to Bean Brothers. In dead beat terms, this is a place for coffee fans and people who need to work. This is a café for those who need a place to be productive rather than comfortable. It’s also where you're sure to get legit cup of coffee.
