Dove: Hapjeong

Right in the middle of the Han river side of Hapjeong’s residential area, take a set of grey stairs up to the first floor, and you’ll find yourself face to face with Dove. Dove is a small cafe that sells delicious looking cookies.

This is going to be a half review because my friends and I had one mission in coming to this café; cookies. We had just come from another café, so we didn’t order any beverages, and only got take out cookies.

Although my friends and I only stayed in for a little amount of time, this small café was a lovely space. It had concrete floors, walls and ceiling. There were white metal beams along the ceiling and as well as support columns. The seating was overall black, however there would be pops of colour with an unmatching yellow chair, or a blue table scattered throughout the space.

There was also a variety of interesting light pendants that also provided pops of primary colours, throughout the space. The café also had a large table with small kitchenware for sale, which also added some nice decoration. There was a nice atmosphere, and I would come here again and sit in.

But coming to the main event. We tried three different flavours of cookies; Pretzel Salt Caramel, Raspberry Cream Cheese and Red Velvet Cream Cheese.

Each of the cookies were thick and delicious. The Pretzel Salt Caramel was crunchy and had a nice texture with pretzel’s inside. There was a nice balance between the sweetness of the caramel and the saltiness of the pretzels.

Next, although named Raspberry Cream Cheese, it was if there was no cream cheese in this cookie. While the cookie was lovely and soft, with some sweet raspberry jam, it was misleading to call it a raspberry cream cheese cookie.

The winner here though, was the Red Velvet cookie. It was lovely and soft, with large chunks of cream cheese throughout. It wasn’t too sweet, but just prefect.

While the cookies are fantastic, the café itself is worth sitting in too. In dead beat terms this café has some of the best cookies around, but don’t just come for the cookies. The café has a trendy and cool atmosphere that is decorated well. So if a cookie craving hits, come for the cookies, but stay for the vibe.
