In The Mass is in the middle of nowhere, which is fitting for an industrial style cafe. It's a large open warehouse style cafe, that has a white theme with pops of colour throughout the cafe. It’s been open for a few years and even has another one in Daegu.

Inside the café, there are a few double seating places along the cafe walls, however majority of the seating is communal tables for eight people or more. This means it’s great for working. It also has a large courtyard with a lot of seating, which is nice to enjoy in the summer time.

Majority of the cafe's interior is painted white, with a big emphasis on repeated bold poster prints covering the walls, inside and out. This industrial look is also topped off with stainless steel finishes, with the focal point being the main counter.

Behind the main counter you can see the bakery and roasting room. While there is quite a nice selection of small baked goods, the cafe has big emphasis on coffee and you can buy various blends of coffee.

I’ve visited here more than once, however this time I came with a friend while they were having a Super Matcha pop up collaboration. I had an iced milk tea, my friend had a green tea latte, and we both shared a matcha and salted caramel scone. For me, the iced milk tea had a nice bold flavouring and I must also mention was very reasonably priced. My friend had a matcha latte which she enjoyed but said that she couldn’t taste the coffee.

The matcha and salted caramel scones were both perfectly cooked and not dry. The matcha scone had a red bean paste and butter filling, while the salted caramel scone was topped with a salted caramel sauce and butter. The scones themselves had strong hints of respective flavours. However the toppings/fillings added another flavour dimension to the scones. Both were delicious, but I preferred the matcha scone as it was a little more buttery for my taste.
So although In The Mass is an older café, it still hits the mark on functionality, aesthetic and goods. Which, in dead beat terms, means it’s one of the OG industrial cafes in Seoul that’s great for working or taking insta pics, with great scones and drinks.
