Just on the edge of the bustling Mangwon traditional market, on a relatively calm residential street is a café called Portrait Coffee Bar.
Despite being so close to the hive of the traditional market, the café was a calm and open café. The front of the café was completely glass which allowed you to see into the café from the street.

The walls and ceiling of the café were painted in white and the floor of the café were wooden floorboards painted in black. At the rear of the café was the ordering counter and that was made of a warm honey coloured wood. The same wood was also used along the back wall of the café, behind the ordering counter. This acted as the centre piece of the café and drew you eye in.

Aside from the white and black of the floors, the café had a relatively natural colour scheme with a lot greens and browns. There were various shades of brown on the seats, tables and of course the main counter. Likewise, there were many green shades coming from plants, posters and even a checkerboard rug. These two colours were easy on the eye and helped culture a calming atmosphere in the café.
The space was left open and with the large windows, it made the cafe feel roomy and spacious. The windows also let in a lot of natural and meant the cafe was nice to take pictures in.

For decoration, it was on trend with a mid-century feel. There were a lot of silver finishes on the furniture and storage alongside the wood. There were also a lot of large photo prints and plants that also hit the mark with current trends.
There were a lot of different types of seating. There were seats along the bar, a sofa, tables for twos or threes and even a large dining style table for a larger group. This meant that the space was suited for a variety of things; socialising, working or even meetings.

For drinks, I got an iced milk tea and my friend got an iced americano. My friend said the coffee was strong but well brewed. Though quite small, the milk tea was nicely flavoured and had a nice silky texture.
Portrait Coffee Bar is an open café that hits the mark on current design trends. In dead beat terms this is a café that is on trend for aesthetics but also has a nice atmosphere. It’s a great space to hang out or get some work done.
