Slit: Hongdae

Tucked right in-between the heart of Hongdae, right near the iconic playground, you can find Slit. Another monochrome style café, Slit emphasises black, rather than white with its focal points like the order counter and it’s door frame painted black.

The interior has an overall emphasis on geometrics, and akin to it’s name, the interior features a lot of cut outs, or slits, if you will. This was seen in the tables, seating, and windows, and since I went on a sunny afternoon, the way the natural light fell, cast beautiful shadows throughout the cafe.

But with low tables and seating, this is definitely a socialising café rather than one for working. Not only for socialising, this is definitely for is getting your perfect outfit pic; especially if you’re thinking of wearing a monochrome look.

Coming to the menu, I had a iced milk tea and a peanut butter scone. The milk tea was flavoured well and had a nice consistency. The scone had a nice peanut butter flavour mixed into it. However, even with extra peanut butter added on the side, nothing could stop it from being dry and powdery. So I would say stick to the drinks and get a snack elsewhere.

Slit is an aesthetically pleasing cafe that is right in the centre of Hongdae. In dead beat terms, if you want a café to match your monochrome look and to grab a quick, satisfying beverage, then this is the cafe for you.
