Contact is relatively new café sandwiched between Hapjeong and Hongdae. It is a well-lit café that has an interesting façade that allows you to see into the whole of the café from the outside.
Walking into the café you realise the café is split into two parts. The first part is the main café part, while the second part is the working area, with a partition separating the two different areas. This works well to show the versatility of the café.
Overall the café has a minimalist chic interior. It was bright with a lot of white, but with pops of colour. It also has a mix of finishes such as concrete, wood, stone, plastics and some plants here and there.
Naturally, the ‘café part’ was more aesthetically pleasing, but the working part also carried though some of its key design elements meaning the two parts didn't feel disjointed. However, in the working part of the café I couldn’t help but be reminded of my old university library when it was refurbished to be modern.
The main feature of the café area was a nice sized DJ setup. The music they were playing was house, and as a house music lover it was extra nice to see they were playing the music on vinyl. You might also be lucky to see a live set as the café also sometimes has DJs play live, but alas I was not.
As for the drinks, I had an iced milk tea and my friend had an iced americano. The milk tea was rich and sweet, and had a nice flavour. My friend said the americano had a nice flavour too.
One of the only downfalls of the café was that the bathrooms were difficult to get to. To go to both of the bathrooms you needed to collect a key card and for the women’s you had to take a lift downstairs to get to the bathroom.
Apart from this, Contact is a well-designed café. In dead beat terms, this is a café that has been made for both those who want to work and socalise but in separate places. All the while offering nice ambiance and good quality beverages.
